Director’s Statement

I have known poker for many years. I have played in shiny casinos, shady clubs and private houses. In all these different settings, one thing caught my attention : the absence of women in the field of players, and the often toxic dynamic between male gamblers and young waitresses. So I wrote, studied and observed, and from this point of view came the idea for Billie : a revenge story focused on a female lead character, set in the strange world of poker where, usually, only men get to shine...
